Chapter 10

Heading to Gao Shan High School

"Knock! Knock! Knock!"

The sky was just beginning to lighten as the sun rose in the east.

Along with the knocking, a voice tinged with sleepiness called out.

"I'm coming in. I'll give you ten seconds to hide your little porn books. Don't let me see anything I shouldn't."

Click.

The moment she finished speaking, the bedroom door was pushed open.

Those ten seconds were a complete sham.

Wu Xiaoyou burst in with a commanding presence, her gaze quickly sweeping under the bed, into the trash can, and toward the tissues on the nightstand.

If Wu Wang's looks were merely handsome, like a fairly well-formed speck of mud flung by the goddess Nüwa…

Then her features were a masterpiece, meticulously carved by God himself.

Her round, oval face and bunny pajamas made her look exceptionally sweet. Her messy, pale-gold waves, draped casually over her shoulders, gave her an air of lazy charm.

A pity that such an exquisite face had a mouth attached to it.

Wu Xiaoyou sighed in disappointment.

"Tsk, you cleaned up so fast? I was hoping for a scene where I walk in on your 'handiwork' and you're all flustered. It would be social suicide! Then I could use it as leverage to make you do all the chores."

Wu Wang remained seated, staring intently at his computer screen. He retorted without even turning his head.

"First of all, in the internet age, who uses physical porn? Second, old woman, stop trying to act young by wearing such cutesy pink clothes, okay? And finally, I'm the one who does the fucking chores anyway!"

With that said, he nonchalantly slid the fruit knife he had used to kill himself into the drawer.

But unexpectedly, Wu Xiaoyou darted forward.

She reached out and grabbed Wu Wang's left hand, which was in the middle of its sneaky movement.

Snatching the fruit knife, her tone turned serious.

"Did you kill yourself again? Didn't we agree you'd sleep properly at night? Did you lie to me?"

Seeing her eyes gradually redden as glistening teardrops began to well up…

Wu Wang quickly and stubbornly argued.

"No! I was peeling fruit to eat!"

With that, he immediately pulled two leftover fruit cores from the drawer.

These were the same cores that Dick Cat, in a fit of anger last night, had found somewhere and thrown at his door.

Seeing the fruit cores, Wu Xiaoyou finally let out a sigh of relief.

She carefully placed the fruit knife on the table.

Two soft, fair arms draped over Wu Wang's shoulders from behind. She leaned down and said softly.

"Little Brother, Second Sister will definitely find a better psychologist to help you control that desire. Please don't do things that hurt yourself anymore, okay?"

"Yeah, I'll try my best."

Wu Wang dropped his usual wretched demeanor.

He knew she was just worried.

Wu Xiaoyou knew about the strange tendency deep inside him, an inexplicable, intense craving for death.

She believed it was a psychological illness. For years, she had been contacting famous psychologists in the country to provide him with guidance.

Her habit of bursting into his bedroom every morning under various excuses was also born from this fear. She was terrified that one day, he would really die in his room.

His second sister was the only person in the world who was unconditionally good to him. Even though they weren't related by blood, they cared for each other more than most who were.

This was also a key reason why Wu Xiaoyou knew about his 【Undying】 ability.

There were no secrets between them.

Of course, now there was one.

Wu Wang didn't plan to tell her about the 【Spirit Calamity Game】. He was worried about her safety, too.

"Okay, pinky swear! A hundred years, no take-backs!"

Wu Xiaoyou reverted to the playful demeanor she'd had when she first came in. After making the pinky swear, she walked out of the room with a grin. Her voice drifted in from outside.

"Hurry up and come out for breakfast! I made you sumptuous braised beef!"

Wu Wang's mouth twitched. He stood up and said helplessly.

"You left out the word 'noodles,' didn't you? Next time, buy the pickled chili beef flavor. I like that one better."

There were still nineteen hours until the mission deadline.

I won't let anything happen to Second Sister!

The day passed in a flash.

Night fell as expected.

After his sister left for work, Wu Wang spent the entire day preparing the wonderul wondrous tools he might need for the night.

It wasn't until about two hours were left on the mission timer that he set off for an abandoned school in a remote suburban area.

The condition given by the 【Bloodstained School Uniform】 was simple. It needed to be in 【Any school environment】.

It didn't specify a normally operating school, which meant an abandoned one would work just fine.

All it needed was a "school environment."

After a moment of silence, the taxi driver asked.

"Buddy, are you heading to a costume party?"

Wu Wang glanced at his own getup and replied with great seriousness.

"I'm going to exorcise ghosts and protect the public."

The driver joked.

"Heh, are ghosts real? How come I've never seen one?"

"Doesn't that just prove my protection is top-notch? How about this? You can send me fifty bucks for a protection fee to show your sincerity."

"…"

The driver went silent.

He suddenly felt like this guy was a bit mentally unstable. What if he got agitated during their chat and stabbed him a couple of times?

Meanwhile, Wu Wang was sitting in the back, adjusting the position of his peach-wood sword.

It was kind of pinching his balls.

At that moment, he was wearing a bulletproof vest, a custom-made steel helmet, and tactical gloves, looking for all the world like a military enthusiast.

But his gear was a strange mix. At his waist hung anti-evil items like a peach-wood sword, garlic, a silver crucifix, and even a black donkey's hoof.

On his back, he carried a large backpack taller than himself.

His overall image was as bizarre as it could be. No wonder the taxi driver had been nosy enough to ask.

Anyone would be curious what a psycho like him was planning to do by taking a taxi to an abandoned school late at night.

After they arrived, just as Wu Wang paid the fare, the driver slammed on the gas. The car shot forward like a Formula 1 car at launch.

As if fleeing from something unclean, he turned and vanished from Wu Wang's line of sight.

Wu Wang mused aloud.

"Is that driver's mental state okay? I'm honestly worried he'll hit a pedestrian driving like that."

With that, he turned to observe the school in front of him.

This was a private school called Hope High School, which had closed down five years ago for unknown reasons.

By now, it had become one of the city's common abandoned buildings. Overgrown weeds were everywhere, almost completely swallowing the main gate.

Not a single pane of glass in the security guard's room was intact. The various cheap food wrappers on the ground proved that this place had often been used as a temporary den for vagrants.

The once-white tiled exterior of the Teaching Building now displayed a wild, inky green, completely overrun by untrimmed creeping vines and moss.

An air of desolation and decay washed over him.

"Tsk, it's been a while since I've been to a school. I really miss the good old days."

A reminiscent look appeared in Wu Wang's eyes.

"I remember when the principal and the female head teacher were 'wrestling' in the office. I snuck away their clothes from the floor, then called the TV station to say there was a major education news press conference."

"The reporters swarmed the office. Such heartwarming times."

That's right, this was his former high school.

The school went out of business the year he graduated.

Even though he felt it probably had nothing to do with him, the entire faculty and student body could guess the reason for its closure.

This bastard was the main culprit.

Because only he would do something like that.

Snap.

An abrupt footstep sounded from the distance.

Wu Wang's previously relaxed and carefree expression froze. He frowned, looking toward the base of the abandoned Teaching Building.

Four figures stood there, pacing back and forth.

Each of them was draped in a shabby school uniform.

The blurry words on the back of the uniforms read...

【Gao Shan High School】!

Author's Note:

Let me clarify something here. This book is mainly for laughs. Wu Wang has no romantic plotline. Women will only slow down the speed at which I draw my sword!

Mischief is Wu Wang's life's work!

Second Sister is a purely familial relationship! Familial, I tell you!
