Chapter 105

I Seem to Have Brought Back Something Extraordinary

【Eye of the Prophet (Legendary): Passive—After equipping this item, you can observe partial Instance information three days before entering. This includes, but is not limited to, major NPCs, key items, and important plot points. Additionally, when facing any target, you can predict their actions in the next three seconds. No cost, no cooldown.】

【Active Ability: Observe a designated target's future within one day. Each use consumes 30% of your maximum Spiritual Energy Value. Cooldown: 48 hours (Player Spiritual Energy Value = Mental Strength Points × 10).】

【Equipment Requirement: The player must possess the physiological structure of an eye.】

【Once used, the equipment is bound to the holder and can only be removed upon death.】

【Remark: Since you have seen the future, why not pay homage? The future is not pre-determined; the past determines the future!】

Wu Wang's heart skipped a beat when he saw the word 【Legendary】.

This was the first Legendary-grade piece of equipment he had ever obtained. Its description might not have been as long as the 【Xiaochuan Broken Sword】's, but its abilities were heaven-defying.

The passive alone, the ability to know partial Instance information three days in advance, would send every Spirit Calamity Player in the world into a frenzy.

What did this mean? It meant having more time to prepare for unknown Instances.

Take the 【Masquerade Ball】 for example. If he had known in advance about the Calamity Cult's involvement or the issue with the Identity Cards, perhaps Batman and the Thorny Show-off wouldn't have had to die.

If Wu Wang had known from the start that something was wrong with Lady Black Cat, he would have chopped her to bits and fed her to the fish within the first five minutes. He could have even found a way to turn Number Five into the Brand-New Mary on the third day of the ball.

Now that would have been a true speedrun.

As for predicting a target's actions in the next three seconds, that basically put him in an invincible position during evasion or combat. If you could see whether the enemy would strike from the left or the right, how could you not dodge?

Unless he was completely crushed by an overwhelming difference in strength, this ability would even reduce the chances of him getting trapped.

"The active ability can observe a person's future for twenty-four hours? Interesting. What would happen if I looked at my own?"

Wu Wang grew curious. If he saw that he was going to trip and fall within the next day, couldn't he just deliberately avoid that spot?

"Oh, I get it."

He reread the item's remark.

"The future is not pre-determined; the past determines the future."

He immediately understood. The future was constantly changing. By observing without intervening, one could see it with maximum accuracy. But if he knew the future and tried to change it, then his previous observation could become incorrect.

For example, if he foresaw being trapped, he could then alter his actions to change that future. This was the very definition of turning misfortune into fortune.

"Holy crap, this is awesome! With this, if I set up shop as a blind fortune-teller under an overpass, I could really divine the future with a pinch of my fingers!"

Wu Wang chuckled happily. He then carefully examined the round object in his hand. It did indeed look like an eye, but not a fleshy eyeball with neural networks as he had imagined. It was a mechanical prosthetic eye with a cyberpunk style. Its cold touch made it easy to mistake for a camera.

He raised it and gently placed it over his own eye, selecting the 【Equip】 option.

Whoosh.

He had expected the device to replace his own eyeball, a process that would have hurt for days without anesthesia. But the anticipated pain and discomfort never came. It felt no different than applying eye drops.

Wu Wang only felt a cool sensation spread through his eye, and the cyber-prosthetic in his hand vanished.

He stood up from the bath, walked over to a mirror, and examined himself carefully. A typical person of East Asian descent had black-brown irises. But now, Wu Wang was startled to find that his irises were a bluish-white, and his pupils were an exaggerated reddish-purple.

It gave him a strange, almost otherworldly look.

When he moved his eyes or shifted his focus, his pupils dilated and constricted like a camera changing its focal length, a clear, cybernetic motion that was far more bizarre than his original eyes.

"Crap. Now I'll have to buy colored contacts when I get home, or Second Sister will kill me."

Wu Wang felt a little helpless. The look was far too conspicuous. It seemed he would have to wear contacts to cover it up whenever he went out.

After drying his body and hair, he left the bathroom. He casually tossed some easily portable valuables like jewelry into his backpack, then went to the open-air viewing platform on the highest level of the Mary Cruise Ship. He lay down, enjoying the sea breeze and a moment of tranquility.

Two hours passed in a flash.

Just as the time to log out from the Instance approached, Mary walked up to him. Her eyes held their usual calm, and a faint smile graced her face. She held out a key. It had an old-fashioned design, like a key for a manor's double doors, only much smaller. It was more like a keychain charm, with a brass-colored finish.

"Sir, please accept this."

She spoke softly.

"Whenever you wish to return to the Mary, you need only hold this by the sea and call my name."

She offered a slight bow.

"May your free will spread throughout the Myriad Realms."

Wu Wang took the key while sipping his red wine. The equipment information popped up instantly.

【Mary's Call (Legendary): Use this item by the sea to summon the Mary Cruise Ship.】

【Remark: Lady Mary gave this to you? You truly are a Mental Succubus!】

What the hell? A Mental Succubus?

But this meant that from now on, whenever he encountered an Instance by the sea, he would have a ready-made escape route. One had to remember, on this cruise ship, Mary's own power was on par with a Nightmare-level Instance boss.

Who would dare cause trouble for him here?

Seeing Wu Wang accept the key, the smile on Mary's lips grew more joyful. She leaned down and said softly, "Sir, we've reached the shore. It's time for you to disembark."

【Leaving the Instance】

【Player, please leave the Mary Cruise Ship within ten minutes.】

Hmm? Interesting. This time he wasn't being teleported away.

Wu Wang raised an eyebrow. He got up and followed Mary towards the ship's exit. The moment he stepped onto the deck, he was dumbfounded.

He saw the coastline and beach of Mingyang City. The gangway for disembarking was placed in the exact same spot where he had first entered the Instance.

He walked down, step by step. The instant the tips of his toes touched the sand, his whole body shivered, and his eyes snapped open.

When he came to his senses, he looked around. He was still wearing the same formal suit and gold-rimmed mask from before he entered the Instance. He was standing on the beach, the surging tide having just washed over the tops of his leather shoes.

The icy seawater pouring into his footwear didn't make him look down. His gaze was fixed on the sea.

In the distance, the faint outline of a brightly lit cruise ship was sailing farther and farther away. On its deck, a figure seemed to be raising a hand, waving goodbye to him.

Eventually, the cruise ship vanished over the horizon, sailing towards whatever distant shore it desired.

Even without checking his phone, Wu Wang knew that no time had passed in reality. But what the hell was this method of leaving an Instance?

"The power to travel the Myriad Realms..."

He suddenly thought of the Calamity Cult and the ritualistic power William had craved. The power of the Spirit Venerable of the Sea of Desire.

For a brief moment, reality and the Instance had intersected. The Mary Cruise Ship had actually appeared in the real world, if only for the instant it took to send him out.

Did that mean it would now sail freely in the seas of the real world?

Holy crap! I seem to have brought back something extraordinary!

This wasn't going to cause some international incident or rumors of a ghost ship, was it?

"Oh? To think I'd encounter something so interesting right after arriving in Mingyang City."

A laugh like silver bells suddenly rang out.

"You seem to have brought something out of the Instance and into reality. Care to share what it is?"

The voice startled him so much that he whipped his head around. A woman was walking slowly towards him from a few dozen meters away.

She was dressed very casually in a loose, light-blue top paired with denim hot pants, her hair tied in a high ponytail. She was tall, at least 1.8 meters by his estimate. A pair of sunglasses was pushed up onto her hairline, and she had a lollipop in her mouth.

When she smiled, her eyes curved into crescents, making her look extremely pleasant, just like a tourist taking a stroll on the beach. But her words made one thing clear. She was a Spirit Calamity Player.

Before Wu Wang could reply, the woman introduced herself.

"First time we've met. My name is Zhuge Yue, Third Seat of the Truth Society."

She paused, her smile widening.

"I've come to Mingyang City to put a bounty on a criminal police officer named Li Guoqiang. If you're a local player and know him, I can offer a handsome reward."

Her gaze drifted out towards the empty sea where the ship had just been.

"Or perhaps we could first chat about what you were looking at on the horizon just now?"

She looked back at him, her pleasant expression unwavering.

"May calamity endure..."
