Chapter 93

The Essence of Humanity is Seeking Fun

Published on:

"Who am I? Where am I? What am I supposed to do?"

After muttering the classic questions of amnesia, Wu Wang sat up on the bed, dazed.

He had forgotten everything.

The rules of the cruise ship were a uniquely special power. By fulfilling the conditions of the bet, they had sealed away his memories of William's power and of all the other players.

From this moment on, they couldn't even remember that they were Spirit Calamity Players in an Instance. They didn't even recognize one another.

In each of their minds, they were simply guests who had been invited aboard the ship.

The Abyss God's Mark did not stop this power from altering Wu Wang's memories. In essence, this wasn't a form of contamination or a curse. It was merely a temporary seal.

It also contained a measure of Wu Wang's own will.

Of course, the most important reason was simple.

He wanted to watch the show.

Knock, knock!

A bewildered Wu Wang heard the knock and subconsciously called out.

"Come in."

The door clicked open, and the beautiful figure of Number Five walked in.

She wore a professional, fake smile and spoke gently.

"Hello sir, may I ask…"

"Stop! I'll ask first!" Wu Wang immediately interrupted.

He tilted his head.

"You said 'hello.' How 'lo' am I?"

Number Five could only stare in confusion. She had a feeling the sir had changed ever since he returned from the Hongmen Club.

Had he become… even stranger?

But since Wu Wang was already so bizarre to begin with, she couldn't tell if he was just having another one of his episodes. When it came to his mental state, Number Five had long since found the best way to handle it.

Which was to simply ignore him.

Thus, Number Five said flatly, "It is now lunchtime. Please follow me to the restaurant."

With that, she turned and walked out the door.

A moment later, Wu Wang emerged, having smoothed out the wrinkles in his suit.

What's that? You ask why he didn't take off the suit even after losing his memories?

Because he genuinely thought it looked cool.

After they went to the restaurant and finished their meal, Wu Wang, like an ordinary tourist, began to look for a place to have some fun.

The first thing that caught his eye was the casino.

The clinking of chips, the whirring of slot machines, the flash of white as the scantily clad dealers bent over… ahem, ahem, the flash of white from the cards in their hands.

A sharp glint flashed in Wu Wang's eyes.

"Can I play?"

"Of course, sir. I'll go exchange some chips for you right away."

The casino's rules were quite bizarre. No monetary transactions were needed.

The currency for exchanging chips was memory.

One could trade beautiful memories for chips. If they lost them all, they would forget those beautiful moments forever. When a person lost all their beautiful memories, their life would have nothing left but darkness.

Therefore, a Suicide Hall had been specially set up next to the casino. It was to help gamblers who had fallen into complete despair find a quick release.

Of course, obtaining someone else's beautiful Memory Chips might not sound like much of a gain. In reality, these chips could grant you special treatment in other public areas. You could even use them to ignore some of the rules.

On the Mary Cruise Ship, Memory Chips were a hot commodity.

A moment later, Number Five returned, looking embarrassed.

"Um… Sir, something seems to be wrong."

In her hand was a single, light-blue chip.

She said, somewhat confused, "The front desk said this is all you have."

She didn't know that Wu Wang had just made a bet with William. He now had no prior memories, so naturally, he couldn't exchange them for any more chips.

Even this one and only chip came from the ecstatic joy he felt upon waking up and discovering he was wearing the cool Decade Suit.

Taking the chip, Wu Wang said nonchalantly, "It's fine. This is enough."

He shrugged.

"After all, my parents beat me often, so it's normal for me to not have many happy memories."

Number Five subconsciously wanted to comfort him.

But Wu Wang's next words made her vision go dark.

"They tried to get rid of me a few times before I was born, but they failed. I still struggled my way into this world."

What the hell! She thought he meant physical abuse, not that they'd tried to abort him!

Ignoring Number Five's eye-roll, Wu Wang walked straight to a Texas Hold'em table that currently had four participants.

He didn't place a bet right away. He just stood silently to the side, watching.

One round, two rounds, three rounds…

After watching for a long time, he finally chose to join in. Of course, with only one chip, he didn't have the right to raise the bet. He could only go all-in.

But strangely enough, he won.

His one chip became five.

In the second round, Wu Wang once again went all-in.

He won again.

Then the third round, the fourth…

At first, no one noticed anything unusual. But soon, the dealer saw the guest who had started with a single chip and, in just half an hour, had won a pile that looked like a small mountain. Her expression turned strange.

She discreetly gestured for the security personnel to come closer, clearly wanting them to observe his methods for any cheating.

However, Wu Wang just hummed lightly.

"Who's a kid that cries all day? Who's a gambler that loses every play? Win, and it's models at the club. Lose, and it's back to the factory."

He once again raked in a large pile of chips.

By now, a considerable number of guests in the casino had their eyes drawn to him.

Number Five came up quietly, leaned in, and whispered in his ear.

"Sir, you're winning too much."

Her meaning was obvious. If this continued, he might be forcibly searched.

But unexpectedly, he just replied dismissively, "They won't find anything, because I'm not cheating. I just memorized all the cards, plus a little simple probability calculation."

After saying that, he even tapped his forehead lightly.

His words made Number Five freeze. If she remembered correctly, the games at each table used several decks of cards, all shuffled together.

Wu Wang had memorized all of them after watching from the side for just a short while?

"Oh, my God."

Suddenly, a blonde woman in an exceptionally sexy dress, whose chest heaved like a stormy sea as she walked, cozied up next to him.

With a gasp, she very naturally wrapped her arms around Wu Wang's, her voice full of seduction.

"You there… sir, with the unique fashion sense. Could a girl like me follow you and bask in your good fortune?"

His Decade Suit left her at a loss for how to compliment him.

Wu Wang glanced at her. In just an instant, he determined that this was a gambler on the verge of losing everything. Seeing how much he had won, she was trying to get some chips through extracurricular means.

He had noticed this phenomenon ever since entering the casino. Many of the women accompanying the male guests were not ship staff, but other female guests. Yet the men could still order them around and even get handsy.

It seemed the guests didn't mind using chips to acquire this kind of alternative "attendant," since the real staff couldn't satisfy certain needs. But these people could.

"Alright. You just have to answer one question, and I'll let you follow me."

The woman's face bloomed into a smile.

"Please, ask away."

Wu Wang pondered for a moment before speaking.

"Tell me, what is the one thing adults can't stand the most?"

Hearing the suggestive words, the woman's gaze couldn't help but drift downward. As her hands caressed Wu Wang's arm, she prepared to explore lower.

She purred, "I get it… Of course it's this…"

Unexpectedly, Wu Wang slapped her hand away.

He said with a grave expression, "Wrong. The thing adults can't stand the most is mandatory work on a weekend to make up for a holiday. You can get lost now."

Everyone around them stared in confusion.

Only Number Five's expression remained unchanged. She knew that nothing normal ever came out of this man's mouth.

However, before the woman could start cursing him out, Wu Wang was seen taking a board from somewhere and shoving it under the mountain of chips in front of him.

Then, he exerted a sudden burst of strength with both hands.

Fwish!

The enormous, enviable pile of chips flew into the air like a rainbow-colored rainstorm.

A stunned silence lasted for less than a second before the entire casino erupted.

Especially gamblers like the blonde woman, who were on the verge of losing everything. They all raised their hands, scrambling to catch the falling chips. More people dropped to the floor to pick them up.

In an instant, the entire casino was thrown into chaos.

Number Five looked at Wu Wang, surprised. She didn't understand the meaning behind his actions.

But the man just sat there with his legs crossed, saying nonchalantly, "My beloved subjects, dispense with the formalities. You may rise."

Number Five stared. You caused all this commotion just so you could say that?

At this point, even though she was used to his outrageous behavior, she felt that something was off. None of his actions since waking up had any logical purpose.

He was simply having fun for the sake of it.

What a strange fun-seeker.

After a moment of thought, she took a step forward and asked, "Sir, do you still remember the Hongmen Club?"

Wu Wang tilted his head and looked at her in confusion.

"Hm? What club?"

This simple, confused action sent shockwaves through the depths of Number Five's heart.

It wasn't because he had lost his memory.

It was because before he went to the Hongmen Club, he had asked her to take him to the 【Back Kitchen】 one more time. He wasn't inside for long.

But when he came out, his first words were a set of instructions.

"Number Five, if my behavior over the next couple of days becomes even stranger, or if I don't recognize anyone…"

"Please find a private place and subdue me."

"Then, take off my suit and find a way to make me stare at the inside of my right wrist."

"I will win."

This guest…

He had predicted the current situation long ago.

He knew what would happen next even before he went to the Hongmen Club.

How on earth did he do it?
