Chapter 95

The Wise One's Unexpected Delight

Wu Wang asked Number Five to explain what had happened.

But she just shook her head, indicating she couldn't.

"Miss Mary's consciousness forbids me from revealing everything to you," she said. "This is a rule and cannot be changed."

Number Five could only reveal certain things she had been asked to do, such as the events that had just transpired.

Wu Wang didn't mind. The information he had was sufficient.

What's more, he now had a cheat that let him see into people's hearts. He didn't think he would lose.

Even though he couldn't remember who his opponent was, it didn't matter. He would win.

The most pressing matter was to find the fox and the grey wolf.

He stood up and put the Decade Suit back on. The two of them walked out of the KTV hall.

Led by Number Five, they headed directly to the open-air swimming pool on the other side of the cruise ship.

"Number One said the female guest is here," Number Five explained.

All waitresses on the ship could choose to share portions of their memories. This rule activated automatically whenever a guest made a request that a waitress couldn't handle, but another knew the answer.

So, when Wu Wang asked for the Fox Loli's location, another waitress had shared the memory with Number Five.

Before long, they arrived at the swimming pool.

They immediately saw a petite lady in the water. She wore an extremely conservative swimsuit, looking completely out of place among the bikinis and other revealing swimwear.

She was practicing how to swim.

That's right, practicing.

The Fox Loli couldn't swim.

And the person teaching her, by sheer coincidence, was the male guest in the Grey Wolf Mask.

Wu Wang was a little surprised. He hadn't expected these two to have already met. They even seemed to have a pretty good relationship.

Wu Wang raised an eyebrow.

"I asked you to have them trust each other. What was the goal?"

This was a request Number Five had received long ago, so it was within the scope of what she could reveal.

She explained softly, "You told me to make them trust each other before tonight's ball. They were to dance together continuously, tonight and tomorrow as well."

This was one of the things that made Number Five admire Wu Wang. He always seemed to have a backup plan. He'd prepared a way to awaken his memories, and even if that failed, he had another method to carry on.

"Well, things look much more convenient now," Wu Wang chuckled.

He then walked toward the pair.

But as he approached, he overheard their bewildering conversation.

"Hey! Grey Wolf, after I learn to swim, you have to take me to catch Pleasant Goat, okay?"

"Alright, alright. Just don't go jumping into the sea to prove a point. Remember, you're not a Merfolk!"

"Hmph! I am! I am!"

Those few short sentences nearly fried Wu Wang's CPU.

What was this situation? Some kind of role-play between a young couple? Why was it so nonsensical?

The magenta suit Wu Wang wore was too conspicuous. Even in his state of utter helplessness, Bei Lang spotted the approaching Decade at a glance.

A glint flashed in his eyes.

He quickly told Fox Loli to play with a swim ring for a bit, then swam back to the shore.

"Yan Shuangying?" he asked, pleasantly surprised. "You have a way to recover your memories too?"

Wu Wang was even more astonished.

"Too? It seems you know quite a bit."

This was unexpected, even beyond what Wu Wang had anticipated when he made the bet with William. He had never imagined that Bei Lang would be able to remember anything under the power of the rules.

After all, Wu Wang didn't know the other party possessed a special piece of equipment, the 【Unforgettable Memo】.

This item was used passively. It only needed to be held. When the user needed to recall something, it would allow them to accurately retrieve the memory of the scene where the record was made.

And Bei Lang was someone who liked to take notes. He had made a record even before heading to the Hongmen Club. He had described the appearance and text of the invitation in detail, along with the various precautions Wu Wang had mentioned.

One note was especially important. 【At the ball, I must dance with the same person every night. My dance partner is Xiaoxiao, a petite, aloof loli wearing a fox mask.】

Bei Lang had taken notes on most of what had happened on the ship. From the moment he woke up in his room, these things began to continuously resurface in his mind.

Unfortunately, Bei Lang did not recall being a player. The other items in his backpack were also unusable.

After all, one only records things they've experienced. Who would write 'I am a normal person' in a memo? By that same logic, he hadn't written 'I am a Spirit Calamity Player' either.

But the memo clearly described the appearance of Decade, 【Yan Shuangying】, and detailed that he was trustworthy and what he had done.

That was why Bei Lang was so pleasantly surprised. He thought Wu Wang had recovered his memories too.

After Bei Lang explained the situation, Wu Wang pondered for a moment.

"So that's how it is," he said. "But why are you teaching her to swim? What kind of strange hobby is this?"

Hearing this, Bei Lang became even more helpless. He covered his face and sighed.

"I knew something was wrong when I found her. She might have already been Cursed, so she lost more than just her memories."

"She also lost all her adult cognition," he continued. "She now truly believes she's a child. She even thinks she's a mermaid princess."

"She keeps trying to jump into the water, but she can't swim, so I have to coax her and teach her a little."

Because her mental state was so immature, Bei Lang was worried she wouldn't agree to dance with him at the ball. He needed to make a good impression on her now to prevent any mishaps later.

"A child? I'm the best at dealing with kids. Let me handle this."

Wu Wang pushed Bei Lang aside and walked toward the edge of the pool. Before Bei Lang could react, the two had already struck up a conversation.

"Xiaoxiao, is there anything you want to eat? Big Brother Decade will go buy it for you."

Fox Loli pointed happily at a shop not far away.

"There's a big sister selling candy over there!"

The shop provided all kinds of snacks and ice cream for guests at the pool. Wu Wang looked over. A waitress was standing there, a variety of candies displayed on the counter before her.

He pondered for a moment before speaking.

"Girl, I know the saying 'you are what you eat,' but even if you're as flat as an airport runway, you can't do this. Human trafficking is illegal, and Hannibal-like behavior will also get you arrested."

"?"

Fox Loli glanced down at her own flat chest, then looked up at the well-endowed waitress.

Tears began to well up in her eyes.

Bei Lang was dumbfounded. Was this what he called being good with kids? He wasn't helping, he was just being a cruel bully! She wanted to buy candy, not the waitress selling it!

Before he could step forward to comfort her, Number Five stepped in. She smiled, took two pieces of candy from her pocket, and handed them to Xiaoxiao.

"Eat this. Big Sister bought it for you."

At that moment, a red bow-tie-shaped item was pinned to her collar.

Gaining trust always required a pretext for intervention. In this case, it was coaxing a child.

Beneath his suit, the corners of Wu Wang's mouth curved up slightly.

He knew.

He knew that two unwavering pairs of dance partners would appear at the balls over the next two days. Number Five would steadfastly choose him. Grey Wolf and Fox Loli were his backup plan.

As long as one pair completed the mission, this bet was a sure win.

William, I can't wait to see the look on your face when you're flustered and exasperated.

I hope you don't splash any blood on me when you kill yourself...
